DBeaver

Universal database tool for developers and database administrators.

4.3 (3 reviews)
DBeaver is a free, open-source universal database management tool that provides a desktop GUI for working with over 80 database systems, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite, Oracle, SQL Server, MariaDB, MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, and many more. It is the most broadly compatible database client available, serving as a single tool for developers and database administrators who work with multiple database technologies. DBeaver's feature set covers the full range of database management tasks. The SQL editor provides syntax highlighting, auto-completion, and query execution with results displayed in a spreadsheet-like grid. The visual query builder helps users construct complex joins without writing SQL manually. ER (Entity-Relationship) diagram generation visualizes database schemas and their relationships, which is useful for understanding unfamiliar databases or planning schema changes. Data import and export tools support CSV, JSON, XML, SQL, and other formats. Connection management handles SSH tunnels, SSL certificates, and proxy configurations, making it straightforward to connect to databases in production or cloud environments. The Pro edition adds features including an AI-powered SQL assistant that can generate queries from natural language descriptions, a visual query planner, and NoSQL-specific tools. DBeaver is best suited for developers, database administrators, and data analysts who work with multiple database types and want a single tool rather than separate clients for each database. It is particularly valuable in environments where teams use a mix of relational and NoSQL databases, as DBeaver provides a consistent interface across all of them. Teams working with less common databases will find that DBeaver often supports their system when other GUI tools do not. The Community Edition is free and open-source, covering the vast majority of use cases for relational databases. DBeaver Pro (also called DBeaver Ultimate) is a paid edition that adds the AI SQL assistant, NoSQL support, advanced data visualization, schema comparison tools, and technical support. Pro licensing is offered at approximately $25 per user per month when billed annually. DBeaver is cross-platform, running on Windows, macOS, and Linux, though its Java-based architecture means it can consume more memory and start more slowly than native database clients.

Excellent tool that keeps getting better. The team behind DBeaver ships updates frequently and they clearly listen to user feedback.

Very impressed with DBeaver. It's not perfect — sometimes it suggests overly verbose solutions — but the time saved far outweighs the occasional miss.

Decent tool that I'd recommend to colleagues. DBeaver particularly shines for database management. Some features feel a bit rough around the edges but overall positive.
