Vercel
The platform for frontend developers to build and deploy web applications.
Vercel is a frontend cloud platform designed to help developers build, deploy, and scale web applications with minimal configuration. Created by the team behind the Next.js framework, Vercel provides instant deployments from Git, a global edge network, serverless functions, and a suite of tools optimized for modern frontend development.
Vercel's defining feature is its deployment experience. Every push to a connected Git repository triggers an automatic build and deployment, producing a unique, shareable preview URL. This preview deployment model transforms how teams collaborate on frontend changes, as designers, product managers, and reviewers can see the exact state of a branch before it merges. Production deployments are distributed across Vercel's global edge network, ensuring fast load times regardless of user location. Serverless functions and edge functions allow developers to run backend logic without managing servers, handling tasks like API routes, authentication callbacks, and server-side rendering. Vercel's framework detection automatically configures build settings for Next.js, React, Vue, Svelte, Nuxt, Astro, and dozens of other frameworks.
Vercel is best suited for frontend developers and teams building web applications, marketing sites, e-commerce storefronts, and SaaS products. It is particularly well-matched for Next.js projects, where Vercel provides first-class optimizations including automatic image optimization, incremental static regeneration, and edge middleware. Full-stack teams can use Vercel's serverless functions for API endpoints, though teams with complex backend requirements may still need a separate backend infrastructure. Agencies and freelancers benefit from the ability to deploy client projects quickly with professional-grade hosting.
Vercel offers a free Hobby tier that supports personal projects with generous bandwidth and serverless function limits. The Pro plan starts at $20 per user per month and adds team collaboration features, higher limits, and advanced analytics. Enterprise pricing is custom and includes SLAs, dedicated support, and advanced security features. Teams should be aware that costs can increase significantly when moving beyond the Hobby tier, particularly for high-traffic applications or those using substantial serverless compute. Despite this, Vercel remains the leading platform for frontend deployment due to its speed, developer experience, and deep integration with modern frameworks.

Pretty good. Vercel does 80% of what I need it to do very well. The remaining 20% is where competitors might edge it out but for the price, no complaints.
